Help IR-4 Identify Ornamental Horticulture Priorities

The IR-4 Project provides safe and effective pest management tools for specialty crop growers. Its Ornamental Horticulture program focuses on research for greenhouse, nursery, landscape, Christmas tree and forestry producers. IR-4 works with growers, researchers, registrants and regulatory agencies to facilitate new product registrations and add new crops, diseases, insects and weeds to already registered products for the ornamental horticulture industry, including landscape and tree maintenance.

Determining where to focus research is crucial in helping those in need of new pest management products. Every other year, IR-4 hosts an Ornamental Horticulture Workshop where the next 2 years’ research projects are prioritized. This year, IR-4 is conducting an online survey prior to the October 5-6, 2011 workshop. The survey will take less than 10 minutes to complete and will identify the most irritating pests. The survey will be available online through August 31, 2011 and can be found at: http://ir4.rutgers.edu/Ornamental/Survey/index.cfm. Alternatively, click here to download, print and mailed to IR-4.

Please take the time to help IR-4 help growers. For more information about the survey, the workshop or the IR-4 Ornamental Horticulture program contact Cristi Palmer at 732.932.9575 or palmer@aesop.rutgers.edu.
