Lost River Master Gardening Workshops Begin April 11th

The University of Idaho Butte County Extension Office is offering a series of eleven gardening workshops on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, from 1 PM to 4 PM in the Business Center, in Arco.  The classes will cover a wide variety of subjects of interest to gardeners in the Lost Rivers Valleys.  Participants who pay the fee and complete the course, optional quizzes and 30 hours of volunteer work will receive certification as “Master Gardeners” and a $100 refund on their fees. 

We need 15 full time participants enrolled before April 11th in order to hold the gardening workshops.  For more information or to enroll, please call the Butte County Extension Office at 527-8587 or email butte@uidaho.edu.

Master Gardener 2015 Regional Convention June 25-26, 2015

The 2015 Master Gardener Convention will take place on the BYU-Idaho Campus at the Thomas E. Ricks Gardens at 525 South Center Street in Rexburg on June 25th and 26th.  The program is sponsored by the University of Idaho Extension.   The program is open to master gardeners, students and to the public. Pre-registration is requested.

Thursday, June 25th will kick off with a keynote presentation by Dr. Stephen Love, "Where Wildflowers and Roads Meet".  The presentation will be located in the Benson Building in Room #219 on th eBYU-Idaho Campus.  It will begin at 6 :00 PM.

The Convention Will continue on Friday, June 26th with classes and tours.  Registration and check in will be from 8:00 AM to 8:40 AM on the East side of the Benson Building.  Look for signs pointing the way.

Regional Master Gardener Convention June 27-28th in Rexburg

 The regional Master Gardener Convention will be held June 27-28th on the campus of BYU-Idaho.  The program is cosponsored by the University of Idaho  Extension and the Department of Horticulture at BYU-I.  Pre-registration for the program by June 23rd is $35 and  $40 at the door.

Registration Dead-Line for Butte-Custer Master Gardener Program Feb 18th

Master Gardener classes will begin February 25th in Arco and February 26th in Challis if an adequate number of persons are registered at each location. The Master Gardner Program provides in-depth training to interested persons who are willing to participate in community projects and/or help their neighbors with horticultural issues. The cost of the program will be $55 in Arco, which includes the cost of the book. Addition cost will be born by the Horizons community development program and the county office.


There will be a $10 per session charge for individuals wishing to attend for their personal information. Four of the workshops will also provide Idaho Department of Agriculture pesticide re-certification credits. Persons attending these programs for re-certification credits only will also pay a $10 fee.
