Position: Ranch Assistant
Overview: The ranch assistant will work with manager irrigating, haying, working on machinery, fencing and riding the range during the summer months. They must be willing to work long hours during haying season in exchange for shorter hours the other times of the year. Fall and winter work will involve processing and sorting cattle, feeding and calving.

Fringe Benefits: Insurance, housing, utilities, and beef furnished
Can bring 2 personal horses(geldings), hay/pasture and shoeing will be furnished
Hours: Seven days a week when necessary
Job starts March 1st, 2010
6-week probationary period
Job Duties:
• Swath, bale and stack hay – round bales
• General mechanic duties and upkeep of equipment
• Flood irrigate
• Repair fences
• Feed cattle using rounds bales
• Assist with branding, vaccinations, tagging and doctoring of cows and calves
• Check and assist cows and heifers when calving (may be asked to work nights)
Minimum qualifications:
• Valid driver’s license
• General mechanic knowledge
• Experience running large equipment
• Experience moving cattle horseback in all types of terrain
• Experience in calving heifers
Desired qualifications:
• Experience running mower and round baler
• Mechanic ability
• Agriculture background
• Ability to work alone and stay on task
