Central Idaho Celebrates Ag Week 2012: Free Breakfast in Arco March 15th

National Ag Day is organized by the Agriculture Council of America. ACA is a nonprofit organization composed of leaders in the agricultural, food and fiber community, dedicating its efforts to increasing the public's awareness of agriculture's role in modern society.

The National Ag Day program encourages every American to:

Understand how food and fiber products are produced.
Appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products.
Value the essential role of agriculture in maintaining a strong economy.

In central Idaho, Butte, Custer and Lemhi county, while the Idaho National Laboratory employees about 11,400 people, a only a few hundred of these people contribute to the local economomy,  the rest live outside of the area.  Agriculture employes about 850 people in central Idaho, just behind goverment ( including public education) with 1,775. Agriculture stands just behind government and mining with respect to base economic output with $84.9 million for 2009.
