Idaho Irrigation Equipment Show is January 7, 2010 in Nampa

The latest information about irrigation equipment will be on display at the Idaho Irrigation Equipment
Show & Conference on Thursday, January 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Nampa Civic Center,
Nampa, Idaho.

More than 55 irrigation equipment manufacturers, dealers, and distributors of landscape and agricultural irrigation products will be at the show to display their latest equipment and services.

"This is a great opportunity for growers and landscape irrigation contractors to come and see the latest developments in the industry and find solutions to their irrigation needs," said Jason Beckman, Ag Show Chairman.

Technical seminars will also be presented. One class provides a recertification credit for Idaho’s Private Applicator Licenses (indicated by two asterisks**). Also, six classes have been approved for the Certified Crop Adviser Continuing Education Credit program in the following areas: Soil and Water (SW), Professional Development (PD),and Pest Management (PM).

This is the first year that tickets are required to attend the event. They can be printed out free at
http://www.idahoirrigationequipmentassociation.org/ , obtained at any participating IIEA member, or are $5 at
the door. They are attached with this email.

The following information lists the time the class is given, the course name, teacher, a short course description, classroom and CCA credit.

Agricultural Irrigation Track:

11:00 a.m. - 12 noon

1. Preventative Maintenance for Sprinkler Irrigation Systems - Kay Stanger, Lindsay Corp. will discuss
practical maintenance for pivots, wheel lines, and hand lines. North Casler Room (*1SW)

2. Irrigation Water Management for New Sprinkler Owners - Howard Neibling, University of Idaho and
Bruce Sandoval, NRCS, will also discuss how to qualify for NRCS Water Management incentives. South
Casler Room. (*1SW)

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

1. Show Me the Money- Representatives from Idaho Power, USDA NRCS, USDA Farm Service Agency,
USDA Rural Development and Idaho Soil Conservation Commission, will discuss new cost share and loan
programs for the 2010 irrigation season including EQIP, Agricultural Water Enhancement Program, and the
Cooperative Conservation Partnership Initiative. North Casler Room (*1PD)

2. Portable Irrigation - Bill Rawlings, BD Sales & Supply, will discuss pod systems and water reel irrigation.
South Casler Room (*1SW)

3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

1. **Pesticide Application and Chemigation - Sherm Takatori, ISDA, will discuss basic pesticide application and chemigation procedures. This class will offer one recertification credit for Idaho’s Private
Applicator License. North Casler Room (*1PM)

2. Pivot Track Ruts - Howard Neibling, University of Idaho and Tad Barrie, Butte Irrigation. This class will discuss system design, hardware, and management ideas to minimize pivot track ruts. South Casler
Room (*1PD)

Turf Education Track

8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

1. Troubleshooting – Duran Cox, Intermountain Landscape Sales, will teach how to find and fix problems
with controllers and valves, and locating underground wire to save time and money. North Home Federal Room

2. Regulations You May Not Know about Backflows – Bill Thompson, United Water Idaho, will present an
overview of Idaho’s requirements for backflow installation, testing, maintenance and cross connections.
Avoid costly mistakes through awareness. South Home Federal Room

3. Pump Sizing Basics – Clint Eshelman, Mitchell Lewis & Staver. Learn how to determine GPM and Total Dynamic Head needed to select the correct pump. Keithly Room

10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

1. Two Wire Basics – Roger Norberg, Meridian Parks & Recreation, will teach the difference between conventional & two wire irrigation systems, installation principles and troubleshooting basics. North Home Federal Room

2. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - LEED – Guy Collins, Hunter Industries, will teach what LEED is, how it relates to the irrigation world, where opportunity resides, how to approach LEED, and how to achieve LEED projects. South Home Federal Room

3. Grow More with Less – Cari Snyder, Netafim USA, will teach about saving precious resources while
applying profit to your bottom line by using less water through drip irrigation. Keithly Room

1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

1. Turf Management on a Tight Budget – Mark Hasquet, Wilbur-Ellis, will discuss cost effective turf fertilization practices and pest management through timing of herbicides and insecticides. North Home Federal Room

2. Erosion Control Opportunities – Joan Meitl, Idaho Small Business Development Center, will discuss opportunities to provide erosion control services to your clients, the regulations that drive this opportunity and resources for getting started. South Home Federal Room

3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

1. Brighten Your Bottom Line – Bob Webb, Cast Lighting, will teach about landscape lighting principles, marketing strategies and sales techniques. North Home Federal Room

2. Surviving and Thriving in Tough Times – Rick Vycital, Idaho Small Business Development Center will discuss the ISBDC services and how to survive and thrive in tough times. South Home Federal Room
