By Chad Cheyney, Extension Educator
Dr. James England, of the University of Idaho Caine
Veterinary Center will present a hands-on review of calving on Tuesday, January
28, 2014, at 9 AM – Noon in suite 203 of the Arco Butte Business Incubation
Center. The program will include a
review of normal calving sequences in cows and heifer, as well as a
demonstration and review of mal-presentations.
Based on a normal presentation we will review when and what
interventions are appropriate, and when to call for professional
assistance. In addition we will review
early post-natal care of the calf, including the use and care of
colostrum. Time permitting, we will
discuss necropsy of the early post-natal calves and prevention and treatment of
scours.
The program will also be presented on Monday January 27th
at 1:00 PM at the Carey Community Center.
